Nā Kama Kai : North Shore Hawaii – Turtle Bay

Had an amazing day today even with the rain.  Feel so luck to live were we live, have the friend we have, and all the opportunities. We spent the day at Turtle Bay with Nā Kama Kai, a Non profit the focuses on the next generation of watermen. They brought out all the toys from the double hull canoe to the subsquatch. Tom Pohaku Stone was also there teaching the kids how to shape surfboards using original Hawaiian techniques.  We even had a few of the professional paddle boarders from the world tour come and teach the kids.  A big Mahalo to every one for a fun day!Na Kama Kai IMG_7134 Na Kama Kai IMG_7238 Na Kama Kai IMG_7383 Na Kama Kai IMG_7558 Na Kama Kai IMG_7611 Na Kama Kai MG_7129 Na Kama Kai sup squatch _7104 Na Kama Kai sup squatch G_7303 Na Kama KaiIMG_7001 Na Kama KaiIMG_7240 Na Kama KaiIMG_7246 Na Kama KaiIMG_7339 Na Kama KaiIMG_7353 Na Kama KaiIMG_7442 Na Kama KaiIMG_7458

FIRST SURF OF THE WINTER : V-LAND – NORTH SHORE OAHU

Headed out today to V-land to test the new canon 40mm pancake lens in the water  and a new pair of kicks fins. Loved them both, however the 40mm was a little trick to focus when there was water on the front port of my water housing. Kicks fins were amazing, very comfortable and gave me plenty of power when I needed to get out of those trick spots.

Creating Images with Water and Light

Creating Images with Water and Light, that is what we do here at Holladay Photo.  The combination of good light and the energy that comes from water, especially the ocean helps create images with contrast and feeling. When subjects are place in or around water their inhibitions fade away giving me a change to capture a non contrived real photograph.  Thats when I capture the real person.
